In 1923 Dr. Joseph Rock, a representative of the U.S Department of Agriculture, discovered a colony of black people living in the southern part of China. The term used for this community is Nakhi (Na-black, khi-man). Although the Nakhi have been living in China for centuries, the media has ignored their existence. Most of the Nakhi live in the mountainous regions of China's Yunnan Province. The Chinese government has officially designated their territory as the Lichiang Nakhi Autonomous Hsien. Reportedly, the government discriminated against the Nakhi during the Cultural Revolution.

Many people are unaware of the fact that Blacks have resided in China since ancient times. Hence, the reason this website was created. BlackJadeworld.com provides a scholarly research on the Black presence in ancient China and other Asian nations. It aims to relay to the public this fascinating 50,000 year history. The Black presence in ancient China is considered one of the newer chapters in the ever expanding field of African history. Blacks have influenced Chinese culture in many ways and these influences can still be seen today. It is my hope this website will enlighten the public about a relatively unknown chapter in man's history.
